HOW TO FIND THE HAUPTSTRASSE

We are happy if we could inspire you to visit the many sights or to make a shopping spree on the Hauptstraße. Have a look at our map if you do not yet know where to find the Hauptstraße in Dresden.

The Hauptstraße is in the immediate center of the city and is very easy to reach by bus or tram (i.e. from the main train station), as well as by car. We recommend connecting your visit of the Hauptstraße with a quick stop at the world famous ensemble of baroque buildings: Semper Opera House, Zwinger and the Hofkirche (Cathedral), that are in close proximity (5 min).

For a little help we have added the following directions if you are coming from outside of Dresden:

From the direction of Chemnitz:

A4 from the direction of Chemnitz
Exit “Dresden Neustadt”
Direction “Zentrum”, the city center (on the Lommatzscher Straße)
Turn right onto Leipziger Straße
Until B6 and then continue straight on the B170 (Meißner Ring)
On the left side (opposite Augustusbrücke), Goal: Hauptstraße, noticeable by the Golden Horseman

From the direction of Bautzen/Görlitz or Berlin:

A4 from the direction of Berlin (A13) or Bautzen/Görlitz (A4)
Exit “Dresden Neustadt”
Direction “Zentrum”, the city center (on the Lommatzscher Straße)
Turn right onto Leipziger Straße
Until B6 and then continue straight on the B170 (Meißner Ring)
On the left side (opposite Augustusbrücke), Goal: Hauptstraße, noticeable by the Golden Horseman

aus Richtung Erz-/Elbsandsteingebirge

B170 from the direction of Dippoldiswalde or B172 from the direction of Pirna until the Technical University of Dresden
Continue on the B170 in the direction of “Zentrum” (Bergstraße / Fritz-Löffler-Str.)
Continue passed the main train station on St. Petersburger Straße
Cross the Elbe river
Turn left onto Köpckestraße / Große Meißner Straße
On the right side (opposite Augustusbrücke), Goal: Hauptstraße, noticeable by the Golden Horseman

By Bus or Tram

Albertplatz can be reached with lines no. 3,7,8,6 (Hauptstraße is just a one minute’s walk away)
Neustädter Markt / Goldener Reiter can be reached with the lines no. 4 and 5. You are right at the start of the Hauptstraße
